Judy (nee King, class of '60) and I are now residing in Utah, but we will not be able to attend the class reunion. Although I retired officially from public education in social work in 1996, Judy and I have continued a very active involvement in international training of children's workers.

For the past eight eyes I have served as the volunteer international training coordinator for The International Network of Children's Ministry based out of Colorado (www.incm.org) and in 2008 established an independent international training organziation, Chronological Bible Storying for Children, www.cbs4kids.org .

We are enjoying some years (hopefully some time) in the wild west.

Judy and I are both off to South Africa in another few days for a two week children's workers training project we are doing there.

Riverside High School Class of 1959
50th Class Reunion
September 26, 2009

May 20, 2009

Hello Classmates,

Here is the information for which you have been waiting. Our 50th class reunion will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Riverton County Club, 1416 Highland Ave., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077, (856-829-5500) from 6 PM to 11 PM. There will be a cocktail hour (cash bar) with hors d’oeuvres served, giving us a chance to socialize before dinner and dancing. Music will be tastefully provided by Mike Chiaccio and Roy Rossi. Cost is $55 per person. Selections are Chicken Roulade stuffed with Spinach, Roast Pepper and Romano Cheese, Petite Filet Mignon; and Grilled Atlantic Salmon separate.

We hope to have a whole weekend of events in which you can participate. On Friday September 25, Class President, Harry Johnstone has arranged for a tour of the high school at 1 PM. We will meet on the front steps at the high school. Please show your interest on the questionnaire. That same evening we will gather at the Red Dragon Canoe Club at 221 Edgewater Ave. in Edgewater Park, NJ 08010 from 7-10 PM to socialize. Cost is $5 per person at the door. Bring something to share with others – a snack, soda, a beverage. (BYOB) and dress casually. You can let me know by email if you plan to attend or contact Marge (Leusner) Stokes directly at 856-461-2463 or with a postcard to her at 7 Mulberry St., Delran, NJ 08075.

Saturday will be our big day with formal dinner. You can explore on your own that day, taking in the sights that have changed in Riverside, Delran, Atco or Evesham. Hop on the Riverline, light rail that goes through Riverside and connects from Camden to Trenton. Visit the Battleship New Jersey or Adventure Aquarium, both on the Delaware River at the end of the line in Camden or take the connection to PATCO and visit Philadelphia. On Sunday we can relax together on informal trips planned to Atlantic City for shopping, walking the boards, or visiting a casino or two. Others may prefer to get together for a picnic in one of our new Burlington County Parks. We can talk it up at the Red Dragon Canoe Club on Friday.

If you are coming a distance, we recommend that you stay at the Sleep Inn 208 US Rt. 130 North in Cinnaminson, (856-829-0717) just a couple of short blocks from the Riverton Country Club. We will be entitled to the group rate of $89.99 per night if we use at least 10 rooms. (Regular rate for that weekend is $109.99 per night). We have set up a block of rooms. Make your reservation directly with the Inn and mention the RHS Class of 1959!

We are trying to keep costs down by notifying as many of you as possible by email. So if you received this by regular mail and now have an email address, please let us know at cabishop57@juno.com.

For the past two reunions we have been fortunate enough to have our booklet printed without cost to us by Liz Smith McNamee who worked for a printing company. Liz has retired, which is great for her. Booklets will be distributed to those who attend the reunion. Those who do not attend and would like a booklet mailed to them, please send $5 when you return your information sheet to cover cost of printing and mailing.

Don’t forget to check out the RHS website set up by Ed Rockstein. You can put your pre- or post-reunion comments there at 59rams.blogspot.com; or you can contact Ed directly at ed4linda@verizon.net. He will post for you.

We are looking forward to spending this weekend with you.

Your reunion committee: Carol Bishop, Michael Chiaccio, Patricia Dugan Kramer, Sandra Gamble Martin, Harry Johnstone, Margaret Leusner Stokes, Joy Page Canducci, Joan Pfeil Chiaccio, Fred Pfeiffer, George Pfeiffer, Carol Rider Fitzpatrick, Maryann Sturdivant Minguez, and Gail Wolff Fynan.

Ed Rockstein & Family

Hi! I'm on the left, with my daughter, Ashley, next to me, then my wife, Linda, behind and to Ashley's right. Next in the back is my son, Geoff, and his wife, Vicki, and daughter, Fiona, in front and to his right.

I'm retired from the Department of Defense and now work teaching Korean language and translation as a government contractor. My wife is a librarian who specializes in children's literature. Geoff and Vicki met at MIT where he studied mathematics (my son?) and Vicki studied electrical engineering. They both have masters' from Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering and Geoff has has his law degree from Columbia. Geoff is now a patent attorney in Boston. This picture was taken on Ashley's wedding day last year.

Linda and I met while I was teaching Korean language and literature at Indiana University and she was in graduate library school there.

Linda and I have lived and worked in Germany and Japan.

That's kind of my life in a nutshell since 1959.

I hope we can get you to send pictures and update us about what you've been doing these last 50 years!

Linda and I live in Maryland and plan to make it to the reunion. See you there, I hope.

Carol Bishop

Carol Bishop

I retired in 1998 and hopped on a bike. Cycled with my husband until I wore him out and then I found a group of retirees who go out from Medford twice a week for rides of 30-40 miles with stops at Conte's for an apple cider doughnut.

In 1996 my bike total for the year topped 3,000 miles. My goal is to see all 50 states. I've added 4 this year with Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Illinois.

My other hobby is that I am an avid birder (birdwatcher to you folks) and trips to see various birds have taken me to many of our states. My total North American species is 608. Two states left, Kansas and Iowa, which I hope to visit next year.

I do hope to see many of you in 2009!

Riverside High School Class Reunion 2009

October 9, 2008

Hello Classmates,

We’ve got some exciting news for you. The 50th Class Reunion will be held at the newly renovated Riverton Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 26th, 2009. Please save that date. We are trying to plan other weekend activities for those of you that might be making the trip from out of town, such as a possible visit to RHS. More details later on all of this – and if there are things that you want to see included, speak up!

Right now we need to decide what size room to reserve at the Country Club. We are hoping that because this is certainly a special number – our 50th – that many of you will make the effort to come and get reacquainted, talk about old times and the fun that we had for those four years. We are aware that these are tough times financially for a lot of people; so we are trying to keep the single ticket price to $55.00.

In order to minimize cost, we are utilizing email for those classmates for whom we have addresses. Please, if you have an email address, let Carol Bishop know at cabishop57@juno.com. If you have Internet access, check out the website that Ed Rockstein has added at http://59rams.blogspot.com. Add your comments there!

Your reunion committee- Carol Bishop, Mike Chiaccio, Sande Gamble Martin, Harry Johnstone, Marge Leusner Stokes, Joy Page Canduci, Joan Pfeil Chiaccio, Carol Rider Fitzpatrick, and Gail Wolff Fynan – have been meeting regularly and trying to plan a good time for all. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to call Mike Chiaccio – 856-764-7153, or Marge Stokes – 856-461-2463 or Gail Fynan-461-6882.

So now, be a dear and copy and paste Carol's email address above into your email address book and email the information below to help us plan for how many will attend. This is NOT a commitment. Thank you and see you next September, 2009!

Looking Toward that Fiftieth!

Classmates:
Our 50th year reunion is right around the corner. Tempus fugit,as Mr. Lombardi would have said. Harry Johnstone is getting a few of us together this week to start talking about how we will handle this special reunion year.

Harry does not have e-mail. So I am asking you to see if you have an e-mail address for any of our classmates. We only have 39 listed so far. Keeping in touch with classmates will be easier and more economical if we can rely on e-mail.

Soon you will be given the opportunity to tell us about the kind of reunion that you would like to attend and asking for snail mail addresses of people that are not on our lists.

Any of you who will be in the area are welcome to join us at the Harvest Diner on Rt. 130 North in Cinnaminson this Thursday, April 10, at 1 PM for a little lunch and discussion.

Stay well,

Carol Bishop
